A written prediction visually changes on a pack of cards...

Effect

A card is selected and returned to the deck. The magician takes the card box and writes a prediction on it. When it is revealed, the prediction doesn't make any sense...It looks like a random lines. Wait...Give it a shake, and the lines slowly form into a correct prediction! This is super visual, and very customizable... The concept is new, and there is nothing else like this!

Comes complete with pre-made gaffs, and full color instructions.

Overview

I am a fan of Spellochange. It is simple, direct and easy to do. Years later, an effect that I loved, OFF SET was released by Sebastien Calbry, and it remarkably similar. They are different and OFF SET is a bot more complex of a gimmick, but the method is closely related.

Basically, a card is chosen and the performer shows that some scribble is written on the back of a deck of cards. The card is revealed when the ink on the card box moves into place and spells the name of he selected card.

You can have different reveals, but you will need to make up a gimmick for each one. You receive what you need to make the simple gimmick and can probably make at least 4 gimmicks with what you are provided.

Originally sold for $20, I think that would be a bit overpriced for what you get.

Effect

As stated above, scribble in Sharpie ink visibly moves and reveals the name of a chosen card.

Method

The method is a secret, but it involves a simple gimmick that is easy to make. You can make one in 2 minutes.

Product Quality

Well, there is no quality to speak of. It is what it is and it works perfectly. No complaints. The instructions are easy to follow written instructions.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy, which is reprinted below is spot on. Just know that you cannot change the revelation unless you have a different gimmick.

Final Thoughts

Because there was no instructional video available and because the product is discontinued, I shaved off a point. Otherwise it would have been a 4.

For $20.00 you get one-sided piece of paper worth of instructions, and a little something extra needed to make the trick work. That's it. However, the effect is very visual and the concept has a lot of potential for other routines. Jesse mentions a couple extra ideas in the instructions.

The stuff that you need to make the effect work can be purchased at any stationary store. The problem is that you have to buy it in bulk at the stationary store. For $35.00 you can buy a box of this "special something" which will literally last you forever. It's enough to create 800 gimmicks . . . yes I actually did the math.

Jesse supplies you enough to make four gimmicks.

A few considerations:
Each card box that is gimmicked can only be used to reveal the same prediction. Thus if you want a different prediction, you need to make another gimmicked box. As I mentioned, you can make up to 4 with the materials supplied. The instructions are a little too general. I think with a little more thought and time, this could have been a much more solid product. The effect is top notch and solid, etc. But the actually product (i.e. the instructions) is not very polished.

It's almost like Jesse had a great idea - and it is a great idea - and he just quickly typed it up and printed a bunch of copies and sort of threw it together. In all fairness, it does also come with a color-printed half sheet with a few photos to help clarify, and the concept isn't hard to grasp, so you shouldn't have a problem.

If you watch the demo on Jesse's site and you like it, then get it. It's a simple gimmick to make, and it's very easy to perform.

Final Verdict: 3.5 stars - and a Stone rating of Gem.
