The magician displays a shiny, black tube to the audience. He blows up a balloon, which is placed inside the tube. The ends of the balloon are in view at all times on each end of the tube. Then, the magician repeatedly jabs sharp pins, needles and pencils through the tube. The balloon doesn't pop. There's obviously nothing gimmicky about the pins, needles or pencils - they can even be borrowed from spectators.
