Wipe the Slate Clean is an interesting gimmick. The concept is not new, a color changing deck/card. What makes this one different is Chris Webb’s fairly intricate gimmick. It allows for a couple of color changes and a half red / half blue color change. The gimmick he supplies is well made.

I have no problem with the concept, after all it is a staple of card magic. The problem I have with this is the method. The gimmick is complex and thick. (three cards thick) I do not believe that this would be a gimmick you would use close up. However, it might be useful in a stand up situation. There is just too much going on with this gimmick for a close look at it even if it is in the performer’s hands.

If you want to perform a color change, I would tell you to practice the classics on this subject. Although Mr. Webb has put together a slightless gimmick, it is a little clumsy and unclean. If cards is your thing and you really like the premise of a color change, it might be worth your money just to see where Mr. Webb has taken it. Otherwise study the classics.
