An intimate opportunity to learn from one of magic's greatest teachers, this DVD will help you think about your performing style, and grow as a magical presenter.

We all know plenty of tricks, but how can we turn them into memorable magic? In this DVD session, Eugene Burger explores that topic, and provides specific examples - including fully developed routines that you can adapt for your own performances.

THE BLACK ENVELOPE VARIATIONS A classic (and amazing) prediction of a playing card, explained in detail with discussions of eight different presentational approaches, including:

A DREAM OF YOU • THE DEATH CARD • THE GAMBLER'S FATE and Eugene's favorite, INEVITABILITY

FADING COIN

plus -

INVISIBILITY POWDER

Discover how a simple presentational premise can turn a good trick into great one.

plus -

So I believe I'm going through a Eugene Burger Phase. I've been very interested in what he has to say about magic, presentation, and just about anything he's willing to discuss with us. Basically, this DVD is not meant, necessarily, to teach you effects or methods. It is, however, meant to teach you how to present magic . . . something that is very much lacking in modern day magic.

The DVD focuses on a handful of tricks, and goes into great depth explaining and showing various ways to present the same effect. In particular, the first effect, The Black Envelope, you are treated to many, many variations on the effect. The method does not change, but the presentation does.

So first, consider the concept of getting an in depth analysis of presentation from a man who is famous for his presentations. Then consider that you will, additionally, get a really good handful of some amazing effects.

You'll also learn about the "101 Deck" concept, and so much more.

Let me show it to you this way . . .
Items on this disk that are individually worth the purchase price of $35:

  • The 101 Deck

  • The Black Envelope Trick

  • Fading Coin

  • Invisibility Powder

Oh there's more, but haven't I already said too much. Here's the thing . . . this is one of those videos that you'll watch multiple times. Yet watching it once is like watching it multiple times . . . kind of like Groundhog Day. I've, personally, watched this DVD about 15 or 20 times. It's inspired multiple entries in my journal, and has added an effect to my permanent impromptu repertoire.

This is one of the best DVDs I've had the privilege of watching and reviewing. The only thing keeping it from a full 5 star score is that there were a few points in the DVD where I felt the presentational angle was just brushed over. I felt like more focus was needed to give full justification to the presentation and explanation. If as much attention was given to the rest of the effects as was given to the black envelope trick, then this would have warranted a 5 star status. Either way, this DVD is still a super GEM status!
