Overview
The Boss Reel Kevlar by Uday Jadugar is a basic thread reel which offers similar performance to other reels at an economical price. However, price comes with a cost. Having owned and own other thread reels, I can say that there are differences in performance. If you would like to get into thread work and aren’t sure if it is something you can see yourself doing, The Boss Reel Kevlar would be a good starting point.Effect
The performer produces a deck of cards and has a spectator choose one. They place the card back into the deck. As if some ethereal spirit descends from the heavens, the deck slowly cuts itself and their chosen card ejects itself from the deck. This and other telekinesis demonstrations can be done with a thread reel.Method
The method of course involves a reel of high strength thread (commonly known as invisible thread) under tension. When properly positioned, the thread can move light objects as it makes its way back into the reel which has been cleverly position out of sight. The thread is either wrapped around the chosen object or attached by some means such as magicians wax.Product Quality
The quality of this particular offering is fair. Upon opening I found the magnets (which are supposed to be glued in place) not glued properly. A little drop of Elmer’s glue or clear Scotch Tape solved that but one shouldn’t have to do so. The tension on the reel is mediocre at best. I tried tightening the tension as per the instructions but really couldn’t make the reel develop much more strength than it had out of the box. The instructions are only 9 minutes long and does not go into any routines but directs you to look other places. The video does tell you how to attach the reel to yourself, attach the thread to an object and what to do if the thread breaks. The most minimal that you can get. Unfortunately, if you wanted to start to learn to use the reel, you would have to invest in other downloads, DVDs or buy another reel with more comprehensive instructions. Ad Copy Integrity
The ad copy is misleading in my opinion. The ad copy states downloadable instructions and the trailer shows all kinds of levitations that can be done with a thread reel but there are no instructions on how to perform any of them.
