C4

C4 is the ultimate color changing card case in which a case of playing cards changes from red to blue. It is the culmination of years of thought, trial and error, and a goal. The goal was to visibly change the color of a playing card case. But it wasn’t just to do that. It was to create a magical moment that was so clean and so fair that I would want it as part of my act. And now it is.

C4 can be performed when the magician is ready. It doesn’t have to be done as soon as the playing cards are introduced.

It’s so visual that it seems like real magic.

C4 was created so that I could use it in my act. And I do. Every time. And it kills. Every time.

The challenge with very visual magic is that the audience can be left without the experience of “magic,” as they attribute the secret to either a gimmick or sleight of hand. Howerver, with Jonathan Levit’s color changing card box, “C-4,” immediately after the card box very visually changes color, the hands are shown empty and the box is handed out for examination, leaving the audience with no explanation. What makes this possible is a very cleverly designed method combined with a masterful analysis of the viewer’s thinking process. The moment when the “dirty” work is done is truly invisible, even after multiple viewings.

The DVD comes with all the necessary gimmicks and an instructional DVD. The DVD includes a full performance of Mr. Levit’s color changing deck routine from his Magic Castle act so that the viewer can see the effect in the context of a full performance. Mr. Levit also shares an alternative approach in which he uses it to open a close-up set. He then explains the method, various ways to handle the effect in different contexts, as well as offering subtleties to increase the effectiveness of the method. Additional online content includes a way to perform the effect in a t-shirt, as well as tips on customizing the gimmick.

The package also includes several additional items that aren’t technically necessary to perform the effect, but which make it far more effective. The inclusion of these items demonstrates Mr. Levit’s commitment to quality, making sure the buyer has all they need to achieve the best impact with this effect. It can be easy to cut corners in the magic marketplace, and it’s a sign of commitment to workmanship to see the quality of the packaging and its contents.

For the performer looking for a great color changing card box, this version is hard to beat. The method is clever, the handling is deceptive, and together they will leave the audience dumbfounded. The effect is very flexible, and while it does require a modicum of audience management, it can be performed in a variety of circumstances. Visual magic that is deeply deceptive is hard to come by. This is an exception. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent color change utility. I STRONGLY suggest you also get Jonathan Levit’s “Ahead of the Game”. The DVD has possibly the best color change routine ever performed!

CAUTION

I just don’t have any negatives to say about this product.
