Overview

Bounce by The House of Crow is a sandwich effect. Although the effect sounds appealing I would rebound away from this one. From the start this was one effect that proved it was going to be trouble.

Effect

A participant signs a card, it is placed between two court cards and the signed card is pulled through the participant’s shirt.

Method

The method requires the use of a gimmick and a bit of sleight of hand.

Product Quality

I can’t say much good about this release. The first issue I had was reading the URL to log online to watch the instructions. This particular trick has to win the award for the smallest font size a URL is printed in. Not only is the font microscopic, but it is printed in gold foil which made it even more difficult to read. I always wonder why these companies do that. They print the type so tiny you have to find a magnifying glass to read it. You bought the trick, why are they trying to hide the URL for the instructions? The second issue is, there is no talking but printed English instructions that go by so fast. You can’t read it unless you constantly pause the video. The third issue, they video goes by too fast. The handling and prep work is done so quickly, again constant pausing of the video to watch it which makes following the procedure too tedious. Finally, the gimmick doesn’t work. When the two cards are spread they are supposed to stay apart, and they don’t. There is no way you can set the gimmick and place it on someone’s shirt without it resetting itself.

Ad Copy Integrity

If the issue with the instructions, video and gimmick were working as they should the ad copy would be accurate. However, I spent quite a bit of time trying to set the gimmick so it can be handled as the instructions indicate but could not move the gimmick 4 inches without it becoming undone.

Final Thoughts

Run, don’t just bounce from this one.
