Overview

WHAT YOU GET

You get a DVD with some intense card effects.

WHAT IS COOL

These are the sort of card effects that take some skill to master, but will leave your audience stunned.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

When I saw the first effect, oil and water, I thought to myself “This is WAY too much work to make an oil and water routine look just slightly better than any one of many much easier oil and water routines.” I forced myself to watch the entire DVD all the way through, and I’m not going to sugar coat this, this is knuckle busting stuff. Many of the moves were new to me and I have been doing magic for decades. However, I came to realize that some of the moves were not as difficult as I thought, and many of them are REALLY cool. I also realized that I could take just one move, for example one of the many, new to me, moves in the oil and water routine and apply just one move to add a single phase to one of my easier oil and water routines and make the routine much more visually stunning. For example, one of the moves allows you to show two red cards with a black card in the middle and the black card moves to one end and then is replaced by a red card, turning them into three red cards face up for them to see. It’s like they are seeing the cards separate right before their eyes.

Be prepared to put in a lot of practice, but if you are looking to work on something that shows great skill with cards, this could be the DVD for you.

I wouldn’t suggest this DVD to a beginner. I do think it could be a nice stretch DVD for an intermediate skill magician and perhaps a must have for an advanced card magician.

AT A GLANCE

Skill level required: 5 of 5. However, you might pick one or two of the many moves and find them easier than trying to master all the moves.
Audience management skill required: 3 of 5.
Performance angles: 360 degrees
Reset time required: You can reset in front of your audience.
DIY time involved in advance: None.

VERDICT

Really amazing and visual card magic. These are more than just tricks, these are magical card stunts.

Effect

This DVD contains six routines that all involve VERY visual card sleight of hand.

Method

The explanation of the various methods is good. The moves may be hard, but I was surprised to see that with just a bit of focus and practice, I was able to do most of them. Others I am still working on.

Product Quality

All you get is a DVD. The quality of the instruction is VERY good, but this is complex material. The length of the DVD is around 43 minutes.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad is true to what you get. The ad warns that this is "aimed at card workers with some skill". I would suggest that if you want to stretch your skills a bit, you could learn some of this.

Final Thoughts

Really awesome! I typically focus more on entertaining than knuckle busting skill, but lately I have been longing to add something that requires practice and skill to my repertoire. I think that if you can show some eye popping skill, it changes the way an audience sees your performance. It could be a good way to move your audience from trying to figure out how you did it to realizing that you have some serious skills.

Suggestions

If you are not very experienced with more advanced card moves, don’t be discouraged by all the difficult moved in this DVD. Just pick one move and work on it and perhaps incorporate just that move into a trick you already do.
