"As close to real magic as it gets... bloody amazing."

The ability to speed up the healing process in the human body is one of the most sought after abilities in human history. Hippocrates, Jesus and Wolverine are known for it, and you will be too. To prove your power, you take an ordinary, borrowed knife to your open palm, cut a gash so deep and believable that blood appears to exit the wound. As if this isn't enough to freak everyone out, your spectators watch, in awe, as the wound magically heals before their eyes. You're a superhero; the master of your body; and instant legend. Make it a reality. Start a religion.

"CUT offers the wise mystery performer a dramatic anytime, anywhere piece of illusionary wish-fulfillment: man's primal desire to be able to heal himself. Ran Pink has given us something which is Fantastic."
- Michael Weber More effective formula & colors for extremely vivid and realistic cuts New and improved gimmicks that offer more flexibility than ever before Simpler, faster application 25% more product than previous version Longer lasting Setup in secondsBONUS: For the faint of heart, "CUT2.0" offers a number of additional effects and can be used as a tool to create new and unique effects.

Overview:
The performer takes a knife or any other sharp object and cuts himself on the palm of his hand. Using supernatural powers, the performer focuses on the cut and the wound heals itself before the spectators’ eyes.

What You Get:
In a small narrow box, you will get two special pens to create the effect, a small emery board and some written instructions. On the written instructions there is also a link to the video instructions. If you are expecting a special gimmick or knife you will be disappointed.

The pens themselves are loaded with a special ink that will allow you to simulate a bleeding cut. The pens are the fiber nib style pens that have to be loaded by pressing them down until the nib is saturated. The emery board is provided for you to dull a blade of a knife you will use for your routine. Obviously the written instructions are there to give you a quick start if you were anxious to get this working ad you didn’t want to go online to watch the video.

Instructions:
The written and video instructions were quite good. There isn’t much to do for the effect to work but both were thorough enough for you to get the idea on how it works and how to present it.

Pros:
The only thing I can say about the entire effect is that the concept is a good one. I want to be clear on that …the concept is good, but that’s about all.

Cons:
Unfortunately, I could not find a way to make this item work. First, the pens were difficult to load. After I finally got them loaded they would require several more minutes to use them again not seconds as the ad copy claims. After I got the pens loaded, I applied the product to my hand and it just stayed there. It did not “disappear” as the instructions said it would. Because of my physiology it should have worked as claimed, but it didn’t.

The biggest flaw I see in this effect is that it is incredibly temperature dependent. I will not work on everyone and it will not work in many locals. In addition, the ad copy says you can borrow a knife for the effect, however it does not say you have to put that knife in ice water for several minutes to make it cold. Overall, this is an incredibly finicky trick at best and for the asking price I cannot recommend it.

At A Glance:
This would require the most basic skill level
Requires no audience management
Can be performed surrounded
Reset time not as claimed
No DIY necessary

Cut 2.0 is awesome. It is not for everyone, but for those whom are intrigued by the idea that you can, from the spectator’s point of view, cut your skin, visibly bleed and have the wound heal in front of their very eyes, this is super cool.

I didn’t ever play with the original Cut, but have and love P’Ink. Both tricks operate with the same method, but Cut/Cut 2.0 appeals more to those that like to shock with gore. What can I say, I am part of that group.

Cut 2.0 comes with 2 applicator pens, in a small box with a small piece of paper with easy to follow written instructions. It also comes with a file to blunt a knife, which I am pretty sure that no one will use. The link to the 23 minute instructional video is included with the written instructions. The video is to-the-point and really not necessary if you want to get going immediately because the written instructions are very easy to follow. The video is helpful for some tips on how to use Cut 2.0. The video also gives you a link to access the original Cut instructions which contain a 26 minute explanatory video as well as a 14 minute video with additional tips. It also gives you access to the P’Ink instructional video.

The set-up for Cut 2.0 takes about a minute. You can put this on before you go out and use it at any time. This trick is for the performer who really likes to ham it up. However, this ink will not react the same with all performers. Some people are more hot blooded than others and that will make a difference. I am pretty sure that if you are reading this review that you will know what that means. Sometimes the color of the wound/blood is more blackish than red, but the web based videos that you have access to explain how to address that situation. It will take some trial and error, but I feel comfortable that issues such as that can be resolved with some experimentation.

The promotional video stars Ran Pink and is more of a mini Hollywood super-hero like film. While the cut and bleed portion of the promo video are accurate (as far as it looks on me), the healing process, on my skin, was much slower than in the video. This may vary from person to person, but the speed at which the wound and blood disappeared in the video seemed super-fast and perhaps faster than would happen in real world situations.

One of the issues that is a negative is how to “cut” your hand. Using a piece of ice provides great results. However, if you want to use a knife, it can’t just be pulled out of your pocket. It needs to be cold. That can be problematic and if you are seen “cleaning” the knife in ice water, that may tip the method.

The trick is marketed as “limited” but it is not described what that means. Are they only selling 100, 500, 1000? When products have a finite number of pieces, I think that should be disclosed.

Because I have only had this for a few weeks, I am unable to inform as to how long it will last or if the applicators will dry up.
