Guy Hollingworth literally stunned the magic community with his appearance on the television show World's Greatest Magic. His techniques and handlings were innovative and flawlessly performed, fooling all and sundry. MAGIC Magazine quickly put the debonair performer on the cover with the caption "Who is this Guy?", as he had taken us all by by surprise. Mr. Hollingworth, it turned out, was a student in university, magic coming into his life not by any intense interest, but as a convenient way to avoid rugby practice!

This is the third volume of the recently released set of DVDs from Guy Hollingworth. This particular disc discusses one and only one effect, and if you are familiar with his book, Drawing Room Deceptions, you will probably know what it is.
If you are not familiar with the book, the effect discussed in the Epilogue of the book is the effect for which Guy is probably the most famous; it is called 'The Reformation'.
It is his take on the J.C. Wagner 'One Tear At A Time' from his book*, '7 Secrets'.
Back when Guy originally released the VHS tape to the magic fraternity, he limited the release to 1,000 copies and it quickly sold out. Before releasing it, he made a promise to never again release that original footage again, and he keeps that promise with this release. Unlike the first two volumes of this set, you will not find any of the original footage on here for 'The Reformation'.
The whole disc is modern footage that opens with Guy reading the Epilogue from his book and he also explains why he promised not to release the original run after it sold out and why it was limited. It had nothing to do with the self-pride/greedy reasoning that has been behind some limited releases in the past.
Guy takes you step by step through the entire effect, the ins and outs, explaining everything very clearly. Again, he is a very good teacher and leaves nothing to be desired. There are slow motion replays of certain parts of the routine and Guy also covers and recaps everything throughout the explanations.
The video quality is great and the audio quality is good. The menu is laid out in chapters with each chapter pertaining to a particular part of the video (the Epilogue reading, the introduction) and each particular step of the handling (the set up, the tearing, first piece restoration, etc). It is very easy to navigate and you can choose to watch the video chapter by chapter, which will return you to the menu at the end of each one, or you can watch it all the way through with the Play All option.
One thing I will point out is that there are extra bits and tips on the handling that Guy gives throughout, but by far and large, as he says, he still performs the effect pretty much the same way it was described in the original release and in the book, with very few, small but not insignificant changes. It does not look any different in performance, in reality.
This is one of the best Signed, Torn & Restored card versions on the market to this day and it really is the only one I use. I learned it from the book when it first came out and never got the chance to see the original release when it was put out. Even though I still have not seen the original release, it is nice to see Guy performing this and explaining it, even though I already knew how to do it.
If you did get the chance to see the original release of this effect, you will still enjoy watching this DVD. If you have ever wanted to learn this version and handling of the T&R Card plot, this is an excellent way to learn. It is not mechanically a difficult effect, but it will take lots of practice to hone the finer parts and it is very much worth it.
No problems on this disk to speak of as far as the video and audio quality, and as with the first two volumes, there is no ad copy per se. The price on this was just right at around $26/USD and like the first two volumes, it comes in a nice two-piece metal case, the lid has the title on it and the back has a picture of Guy with a brief overview of the effect, and inside the case is a plastic insert to hold the disc securely.
Overall a nicely produced product with excellent instructions - I VERY highly recommended!
