2000 Three Card Monte

Evans, Henry

(Based on 1 review)
This is the three card monte routine that Henry Evans featured in his card act that won him first place for card magic at the 2000 FISM conference. A classic three card monte but with a difference. The "winner" card and two indifferent cards are shown full faces toward the audience. One of the indifferent cards is placed aside or in a glass in full view of the audience. The winner card and other indifferent card are then placed face down on the close up mat. They are clearly shown and placed on the mat. Spectator now tries to locate the winner. Both are turned over and shown to be indifferent cards. The winner card is now in the glass. Absolutely no sleight of hand and all cards can be examined at the end of the routine. WARNING. Although this is an absolutely powerful three card monte routine, you WILL need a close up mat to perform this and you must work this effect on a table. It is NOT a walk around effect. It's a killer to add to your close up show but the restrictions above do apply. This has fooled virtually every magician who has seen it.

Ah another winner.. er.. excuse me, weiner from Henry Evans. This man produces tricks at the same speed Jay Sankey does, and sadly they are not that good.

This trick is a great idea. However the mass-produced version is not. The quality of the gimmick makes it very obvious. It will NOT work on any kind of close up mat except the one specified. It will not work very well under any kind of bright light. A dimly lit bar and drunk people are the best way to do this. Even then, it's a one shot trick. After that... it's kind of a waste. Save yer money on yet another card trick you can do without. Go buy a book and try to learn the real way to do 3 card monte. The cops will love you for it.
