(Based on 1 review)
12 contestants (ALL MEN) are displayed, but this is a "Blind Date" so no faces are shown yet! Just one is the perfect man for your lucky spectators "Blind Date".

A pair of dice are rolled to create a random number from 2-12 and select the spectators "Blind Date" for the evening.

All the potential suitors that where rejected are then shown, one by one, before the chosen "Blind Date" is revealed for a moment of comedy gold!

After watching the trailers, this was not quite what I thought it was going to be but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

It is a spin on an old classic gag effect which has seen a version for men and another for women. In this case the effect can be played as a comedic gag or in the way of what I assume was the original intention, actually getting a date with a spectator. To me, using magic as a pick-up is cheesy but some of the ideas for that floating around out there are not too horrible - this is one that is not too bad and I will explain in a bit.

Along with the DVD you also get some very good quality cards that you need for this effect. The only other thing you need to supply are 3 normal dice. The ad copy says a pair of dice are used - not sure if it was a typo or not but once you understand what you are trying to accomplish, you might be able to use just two. Other than that, the ad copy is completely honest.

The production quality of the DVD is mixed - the performance on the disc were terrible because the volume was either too loud or too low due to various factors, often hard to understand. The lighting was okay but you were able to see what was happening. Now, in the instructional section the lighting was great, the volume was perfect and everything was very clearly explained and taught very well.

Stephen also went into detail on various outs and various types of forces that can be applied to other effects or routines where that might be necessary - very useful information! He also explained a couple different ways to do this effect.

Two of the cards you receive must be customized and is rather easy to do - he explains how to go about doing that. Now here is where I explain my stance that this effect stands above most of the other cheesy ones of this type: If you think about it, you can temporarily customize the two blank cards for various effects or outcomes. Since I am married and would not use this effect as originally intended, I immediately came up with two or three others to do with it and as such, they are still comedic effects but different from the original effect as presented here.

Except the blank cards, they all have male profiles on them so this effect is mainly for male magicians, but I am betting that female magicians could also find a use for this effect with the proper scripting and a thought out routine.

At the end of the DVD there is a sort of jocund "disclaimer" (actually more of a public service announcement) that in my opinion belongs there, especially if you use this effect for its original intention. Serious with funny undertones.

I will finish by saying that if you are a single magician, this product is mainly aimed toward you. If not, you can still use this effect for other ideas (mainly comedy) but you will have to think about it a bit and come up with your own.

Well done Stephen!
