Bella Magia, which is Beautiful Magic in Italian, is apparently the name of a book by Bruno Canaldi-and/or a few effects he marketed, with additional one word titles, below the words Bella Magia. It's a bit confusing, as I read Bella Magia Impossible, as the complete title-turns out, Impossible is the name of the effect. Sorry for the hair splitting-but MLA lists Bella Magia-and I am offering a review Impossible, which MAY or may not be in this book. Still with me?!
Impossible, is a rare but findable effect, where two cards are placed face down on the table by the Magi. He then selects two other cards, which are shown to the spectators. Nearly instantly, and quite cleany, the cards vanish from the deck-and the tabled cards ar turned over, and, there they are.
I liked the premise of the effect, and it's not so easy to find. Canaldi marketed a locator deck, and another card effect called Ghost of a chance, back in the late nineties.
Impossible, properly presented, is strong. The way the cards are shown, and also vanished, is very clever. While there are two gaffs invloved, they are unique enough that you have to buy the trick-as, you won't have these gaffs just laying around in your drawer. The ad may imply that the two chosen cards are free choices that the spectator makes. Not so. The cards are not even forced, but seem to be arbitrarily arrived at by the performer. While I don't have any solutions to offer as to how two make two free choices vanish and go the table-THAT would be a strong trick-Impossible has got me thinking about just how I might accomplish that. The price for this trick was $6.50, and it comes with bare bones instructions. Not earth shattering-but, my sense is that lay people have not seen such a trick-and the M.O. is diabolically invisible. Worth getting in my opinion. Reset is minimal, and unless you palm out the gaff, it's a one trick deck.
