Devant's Delightful Delusions

Sharpe, S.H.

Magic Words

(Based on 1 review)
Few people can boast that they actually witnessed a performance by David Devant. Fewer still have personally corresponded with the great magician. Only one has combined that first-hand knowledge with a wealth of research into one fantastic book. This is actually three books in one. First is a fascinating account of David's life in the theater. Part two is composed of Devant's originalities. Everything from his classic parlour tricks to the spectacular illusions that helped make London's Egyptian Hall famous. The third part is a valuable listing of writings by and about Devant that have appeared in magazines and books throughout this century. This book features over 50 photographs that provide a rare peek into the life and magic of England's greatest magician. Tipped into each copy is a full-color reproduction of an eye-popping Maskelyne & Devant poster. Only 1000 hand-numbered copies of this book have been produced, so don't be left out. 232 pages; hardbound; beautifully produced.
