PYRIS

Nicolas Lepage

(Based on 1 review)
"Effective and diabolically ingenious. This gimmick has many applications. It will fully statisfy professionals as much as all those who want the top of the top in close-up magic."
- Laurent Berreta

"Nicolas Lepage has found a new and original idea to begin a coin trick. It is simple, direct, and effective!"
- David Stone

Effect

Borrow a lighter, light it and bring its flame close to your fingertips. Suddenly, your hand is set on fire. The flame grows up to 10 cm in height and slowly changes, little by little, into metal to reveal a half-dollar coin!

Comes complete with special coin, gimmick and instruction sheet.

Pyris is a fire effect so the usually dealer warning about only selling to adults should stand. Moreover, Pyris is the kind of fire magic that you have to be careful with and have courage to perform because you may very well l "feel the heat."

However, having said that, Pyris is an amazing effect. The description is accurate and the transformation from flame to coin is really "cool," or perhaps I should say "hot."

The basic effect - flame to coin - requires little skill. You can almost do it "out of the box." Some of the more advanced effects on the website - producing a handful of coins or a moving flame behind a playing card - require a bit more practice but are within an average person's skill level.

Pyris is definitely a close-up effect although it could be done in a cabaret or parlour. Pyris is a great intro to a coin routine. When I used it recently, someone in the audience commented, "Nothing entertains and mystifies like fire."

I agree with that comment.

I love the effect and highly recommend it. The 1/2 deduction is because it is not for the "faint of heart."
