In my book there is no stronger card trick than this. I have had people actually scream at the end. I set it out at the beginning of the set and state that it is my ring box and I will get to it later. When I get to this trick which is the end of my set, the audience has forgotten about the box. The effect is staggering. I have NEVER had a lay audience want to inspect or question the box!!!!!!!!!

When a prop helps you land a great gig, you have to love it. I love the Mystery Box. I didn't give it 5 stars though because there is a minor discrepancy with the gimmick. Unless you do a perfect and I mean PERFECT card fold, the gimmick doesn't withstand more than a glance form the spectators, but it also doesn't take more that a glance to sell the effect. Having said that, I've never had anyone mention this discrepancy other than another magician. With the proper staging and presentation this is one heck of a magic effect. The nice thing is the box is EMPTY after you "dump" the folded card out, adding to the illusion. The clients response to this effect was "That's f***ing impossible!!". It doesn't get much better than that.

One of my all time favorites!
The John Kennedy Mystery Box has got to be one of the most convincing and impressive signed card effects ever. Quite simply the effect is exactly this: a small box is placed on the table in front of the specator then they choose and sign any card, and it is shuffled back into the pack. The peformer attempts to find their card behind his back and he announces he has found it and that now it is in the box that has been in front of the spectator all this time.
They open the box and see a single card folded in the box. This card is tipped onto the specator's hands - and the performers hands are clean and the box is empty. It is their card with their signature. So beautiful is this trick that I bought all 3 exotic wood versions: Ziricote, Paduk, Bloodwood!
The box can be handled by the audience at the end and there is nothing to get rid of. It takes but a moment to reset. There is a very simple move, but it is beautifully masked by the box, and takes very little time to get comfortable with it.
The effect on the audience is amazing. There are also non-card versions of this box, and different exotic and collector's versions of the box at different price points.
