Overview

You are not actually buying a product here, what you are buying is a DVD that teaches you to make the gimmick and learn how to do perform this amazing penetration. The 21 minute DVD is very well produced, very clear with great close-up shots and superior sound quality. Herman does a fantastic job of demonstrating how to make the gimmick and teaching this astonishingly visual illusion. Please be aware that if you do not own a DVD player or have a computer that plays DVD’s, there is no download available.

Method

The gimmick does all the work for you, just practice the ‘minor’ move you have to learn/do, the angle restrictions, some well though out timing and the Sharpie will visually melt through their borrowed and signed bill. Once the pen penetrates the bill, leave their bill folded in half, hand it back to the spectator and let them open it to see that no tear is visible, it’s intact.

Ad Copy Integrity

For the most part the ad is very accurate as to what you will accomplish with this purchase but should make it more clear that no gimmick is included, you have to make it yourself. The ad does say that you can perform it "any time, any place" but due to the very limited performance angles (your spectators will have to be directly in front of you), I think any time, any place is a bit of a stretch. Audience management will be paramount and this is not repeatable to the same crowd.

Final Thoughts

The gimmick is not difficult to make but you may have to make a few in case the first ones are not perfect. They suggest scissors but I found a Dremel works better. The Sharpie can be handed out but you don’t need to or have to. It can also be used before this effect or afterwards if you so desire. I think that this effect is a bit overpriced as no Sharpie is provided, you have to make your own gimmick and no download or online instructions are available. Rating is difficult as I believe the effect as presented is a 5 but due to the fact there are no online instructions - you need a DVD player or have a computer that plays DVD’s (some do, some don’t) I give it a 3. Averaging it out I’ll say 4.

Suggestions

Suggestions:
I would not recommend this as a stand alone effect but as part of your established routine where you may have someone sign a card or you are using the Sharpie for a prediction, moving hole effect, etc … Strolling in a room, not really, perfect for parlor.
