The Expositor, first published in Boston in 1805, has the distinction of being the first truly American treatise on the subject of legerdemain. The highlight of the book is undoubtedly the explanation of the secret of the learned pig. Other mysteries explained are that of the invisible lady and acoustic temple, seven feats of Mr. Raine, the art of ventriloquism including the use of a ventriloquial figure, and miscellaneous tricks and "optical delusions." A beautifully reproduced little book, limited edition, each copy numbered.
