Bicycle Cupid Back

United States Playing Card Company

(Based on 1 review)
A 120-year-old design returns in the 21st century.

The Cupid Back Deck was originally introduced to the Bicycle® Brand family in 1894, and continued in production until its discontinuation in 1943. Featuring interlocked wheels with the ever-cycling cherub, this deck makes Cupid the central figure. Now this historic deck makes a return so that collectors and fans everywhere can get the chance to own this original design.

The Cupid Back Deck contains original artwork on the back of each card and the tuck. Made in the USA at The United States Playing Card Company on premium stock with a quality finish.

The Cupid red back, also known as the "Cherub Back" was discontinued in 1943. The reason is unknown to me, but i am happy they have been reprinted. The design of all the backs and the tuck, pictured in the corresponding photo, is a side view of an angel riding a bicycle. The artwork dates back to the 1890's and even though it is over a hundred years old, it has a current feel to it. The faces, style, font and feel are no different than your standard rider back 808's, except for the one of the two joker, which has the text "Big Joker" on it. A history card, with a cupid back, is entitled "Cupid Back No. 21" comes with the deck and explains some of the history behind the card. Based upon the back design and the history, I rate this deck very highly.
