Key Bender

Fun Time

(Based on 1 review)
If you've ever tried it, you know how hard it is to bend keys in your bare hands. With this effect, keys are bent as if they were made of butter! The Magi asks volunteers to provide some keys. With a stroking motion, the Magi bends the keys right under the noses of the volunteers! A display of supernatural strength! Simple instructions along with that special something enable you to perform this effect right away. The secret for bending spoons is included also.

This is really a utility/device. The effect or presentation is up to you. You're given the gimmick that makes it work. You need to get your own keys.

I enjoy this utility quite a lot, and if you're into mentalism or any presentations involving the power of the mind etc, this is a great trick to use.

Of course, like any tricks this there are pros and cons.

The pros: This effect is very easy to perform. The misdirection suggested within the 2 pages of text provided with the gimmick gives several suggestions on how to make the move appear natural when you do it, and even suggests ways to make it undetectable.

The gimmick is VERY strong. It doesn't take much to bend the keys. In fact, I broke mine trying to bend it back.

The effect can be done with or without long sleeves.

The text even goes a bit above and beyond by suggesting a couple of other things than you can bend without the use of the gimmick. I thought that was a nice little touch.

Cons:

The key MUST be certain kinds. Certain keys will not work.

If you're not careful, you may end up instead of bending the key, snapping it in half. The gimmick is that strong.

It is highly encouraged you wear long sleeves, but that's not a requirement. It just makes things easier.

The text mentions a certain type of key and doesn't explain exactly what it is. That said, google is your friend.

You can try, but will likely fail to bend the key back, so if you're using a borrowed key, you'll have to ask them if the key is a key the spectator uses for something. I personally think it will be hard to find a person with random non-working keys that they carry around. To compensate you can use your own key, but that could arouse some suspicion, which is unjustified.

It would have been nice, and even worth paying a couple bucks more if they included a key to help get you started.

Final thoughts: For the price and wow-factor you'd be crazy not to add this to your mentalism routine. It will definitely take some practice, and you'll have to learn what kind of keys you can and can use, but the gimmick really is worth the price. Just remember to NOT use keys that are needed, because they won't work after.
