Visions

(Based on 1 review)
Visions is an incredibly powerful and simple double-prediction effect, suitable for walk-around and parlour. It can very easily be adapted into a full stage routine.

An envelope is placed in full view. A spectator is asked to imagine they are drawing a picture in their mind... it is a free choice and exists only in their mind. Next, a deck of cards is shown and all the cards are shown to be different. The spectator chooses a card. The envelope is opened and inside... paper-clipped to your business card is an exact match of their selected card. The spectator is suitably impressed, but they are soon astounded -- the card is turned over and their thought-of picture is shown to be drawn on the back of the card!

This is a self-working, self-contained, instantly resettable pocket miracle. There are no difficult sleights, no pocket writing, no stooging, no memory work, and it is 100% reliable. Everything you need fits inside a deck of cards plus the envelope (which comes supplied, but is optional in performance).

Visions is a real-world, working piece of magic which has been performed hundreds of times by creator and two-time FISM award winner, Matthew Wright. It can be played as a light-hearted piece of mental magic or a much more serious mentalism piece. Includes an hour of detailed instructions, plus handling for bonus routines with peek wallets and an in-depth look at the psychology of drawing duplications.

Whether you are new to magic or a fully seasoned working pro, Visions is an effect that you will be performing right away with devastating results. Highly recommended!

Overview

Visions by Matthew Wright is a perfect example of tricks ruined by improvement. Visions could have been an excellent trick but for some reason, creators have to tweak long time standards and improve upon them rendering the product virtually useless. One would think when releasing a product to the general magic community, it would be analyzed and field tested and hopefully adjusted to fit the requirements of the general public. Unfortunately, Visions did not go through that field testing phase making the product unusable, unless the purchaser goes through tedious amending to make it more practical.

Effect

Visions is a double prediction effect whereby a spectator is asked to imagine a simple drawing in his/her mind. Then they are asked to think of a playing card. A prediction envelope is picked up which has been on the table the whole time. A card is taken out and the card is the thought of card and on the back the thought of drawing.

Method

The method involves a special deck and envelope. The envelope is gimmicked much like some mentalism wallets where a prediction can be easily inserted and retrieved. The deck is a special deck where the identity of the card can be spotted (in theory) and it is paired with a one of many drawings commonly thought of. The issue is with the identification of the card. One would need a microscope to see what is needed to be seen to identify the chosen card. Quite frankly, I’m not even sure a microscope will help.

Product Quality

Unfortunately, one would have to expend a bit of labor to make this a usable trick. The theory of making the backs of the cards look natural so they will not raise any suspicions amongst the spectators, also made it impossible to use by the performer as well. This must have been a major issue because a second download was added addressing the complaints. In a brief 2 minute video Wright explains how you can expend your labor to make up for his poor product. Sorry Wright, that just ain’t right.
