What can you say about the Tarbell Course?

It is as much a history of magic as it is an instruction on tricks, presentation and "magical thinking". Over the years, I have learned that the "magical thinking" part is the most difficult to learn and appreciate, but far and away the most important. To that end, experienced magicians need to revisit Tarbell regularly and bone-up on their thinking. Other mere mortals will be interested in the tricks.

And Tarbell explains everything.

It is an invaluable resource. Well written and illustrated. It is a magic treasury and legacy rolled into one. It is also a MUST for anyone serious about the performance and the art of magic.

As Steve already pointed out - everyone should have a set. Mr. Tarbell's collection of tricks were frequently submitted by the leading magician's of his day. And make no mistake, most everything in here can be used today. Magic is based upon a human's ability to understand their environment; and that hasn't changed in several thousand years. You will likely need to change the patter, but shouldn't you be doing that anyway?

If you are a magician and you don't have a set of the Tarbell course on your shelves then..... SHAME ON YOU!

Any magician who is worth his 'salt' should have a set in their library. Some people will say that these are the magicians 'Bible' and I couldn't agree more.

Some of the tricks might be a little old fashion but 99% are very much usable today.

From silks, to cards, mentalism to illusions, these books are a mine of information! Originally Harlan Tarbell wrote the course in lessons and they were available as a correspondence course! Later they were gathered together and published in book form. Books 1 to 6 were published before Harlan Tabells Death in 1960, but then it was discovered in later years that a number of lessons were left out, hence the other 2 books.

The books are beautifully Illustrated with hundreds of drawings done by Tarbell himself.

So if you haven't yet decided whether to buy a set yet or not why not buy Vol 1? You'll soon be buying the other volumes.
