You receive the PRISM deck (designed by Andi Gladwin); a pack of cards in which every card has different artwork, and a DVD featuring Joshua Jay's PRISM routine.

You can perform a complete act with this deck...culminating in the color-change finale. The EXQUISITE artwork and careful detail on every card in this deck makes this the finest rainbow deck ever produced. If you do color-changing deck or have ever wanted to, The PRISM Deck should be in your collection.

The most interesting part: the backs are marked! This sounds silly for a rainbow deck, but everybody who knows Joshua will think twice. Pure genius!

PROS

This is the best color changing deck on the market. Wait… it’s not only a color changing deck. It’s a magic act in a deck. This rainbow deck has tons of effects built in.

The great thing about this project is Joshua demonstrates and explains over 20 effects so you don’t get just a one trick gimmicked deck. These effects are very strong, and make the color change stronger because the audience has seen multiple effects with what they think is an ordinary deck and then you do a color change routine without any deck change.

In addition, for a very reasonable price, you can purchase a refill deck.

CONS

Can’t think of any.

VERDICT

This is truly the best color change deck!

These days you can easily pay $30 for some just-born minor variation of a trick that's in Tarbell, filmed at the city park by a kid who's only ever performed it for his friends. Prism Deck is the complete opposite in every way possible. I think this it's one of the best bargains I've seen in a very long time.

The deck itself is a Card-Shark production, so the materials are very good, and almost every detail has been really well thought out. (My only quibble is that some of the markings on the back are hard to read in low-light, but maybe that's because my eyes are 17 years older than Josh Jay's eyes.)

Jay teaches a great 3-trick routine that uses the Prism Deck, and even if you don't buy this product I think it's worth watching the demo to see this table-free set and the admirable way that he interacts with his audience. On the disc, Jay says (and I agree) that the routine is for intermediate-level card workers, so he also offers an alternative, easier way of using the deck. This is also a great lesson in how good magic is worth the extra work. The easier routine is OK, but pales in comparison to the other.

The care put into the Prism Deck is very much evident as Jay explains several additional effects that you can do with it. It's great that in the course of producing a 'rainbow deck' they took advantage of the situation to create some additional novel and useful cards. Overall these are a welcome additions.

If you have any interest in this plot, or if you just like to study nicely choreographed magic, or if you just want something new to learn with exceptional value, you'll be happy with Prism Deck.
