Imagine placing a single envelope onto the table along with six colored ESP cards. Your spectator is asked to roll an imaginary die, they can roll it as many times as they like, change the number as many times as they like and yet the ESP symbol related to the number will match your prediction in the envelope 100%.

Symbol is an ESP prediction test with 6 symbol cards and a prediction inside an envelope that is in plain sight the entire time. Notwithstanding the fact that it is a quick and easy trick, it is a very strong prediction effect with an interesting method. Symbol is created by Steve Cook and marketed and produced by Alakazam Magic.
The trick comes with a 26 minute DVD, 6 different ESP cards (square, circle, wavy lines, triangle, star and plus sign), a prediction envelope, and some prediction reveal cards.
The DVD starts off with a performance of Peter Nardi to David Loosley sitting on a couch with a table in front of them. A table is necessary to perform the trick. The demonstration takes about three minutes with Nardi’s extended patter.
To perform Symbol, you put a closed card envelope on the table and ask the spectator to take note that it is there from the beginning. The six symbol cards are spread on the table and the spectator is asked to roll an imaginary die a few times and then indicate which number the spectator "sees" on the imaginary die that they pretend rolled. That number is used to determine which card is chosen. The method to choose the card was not previously known to me and does not use equivoque or funny counting/spelling. Any number 1 through 6 can be chosen. Once the card is chosen, the prediction in the envelope is revealed and it amazingly matches.
Nardi teaches the method behind Symbol, which is very clever and easy to learn. It is very fooling because of the very strong system. While the six symbol cards can be inspected, you would not want the spectators to inspect the cards, except in certain circumstances in which it does not detract from the trick. For the main method, the envelope is not gimmicked and can be inspected, but the prediction card cannot be handed out unless you do some cleaning up. Nardi teaches a crafty method to do this that was suggested to him by his friend Titanas. The prediction card can however be inspected if a certain type of card holder/wallet or envelope is used.
The reset takes about a second, but you would not want to repeat the trick to the same spectator for a second time even though there is not just one reveal card. This is great for table hopping. Repeating the trick may give major clues to the method if viewed by the same spectators. There are no angles to be concerned about and you can do this trick surrounded.
The ad copy is accurate as is the promotional video, but the trick in the promotional video uses something that does not come with the trick which you would need to make. That arts and crafts project is briefly taught on the DVD. There are three outs and they are all very strong, but the one shown in the promotional video is the strongest and most magical of all outcomes.
If you register Symbol on the Alakazam website, you will get an additional handling taught by Nardi which is quite excellent. Usually, in my experience, after the fact handlings are not worthwhile, but in this case it is fantastic.
