As a working professional, I know the power of putting “Moveless” magic into my working repertoire. A lot of spectators EXPECT magicians to do sneaky moves and sleight of hand, and one of the highest compliments you can get from someone is when they exclaim, “But you didn’t DO anything!”

I’ve seen a lot projects devoted to moveless magic in the last few years, such as the Card College Light books, and BigBlindMedia’s Ultimate Self Working Card Tricks. This DVD is full with some of the most devious and usable hands off card magic I’ve seen in a long time.

This isn’t JUST cards either. There’s a lovely redressing of a classic principle adapted to mini Sharpies, and a reworking of a classic coin force. Some of the card effects don’t even require a set up, and the ones that do require a set up are always in proportion to the strong effect you will get. Each effect is clear to the spectator, and I think will be easily remembered by most laypeople. I wouldn’t necessarily say any of the effects are weak, but there are some versions that may appeal to some performers more than others. Many of the effects are merely sleightless variations to classic tricks such as the Spelling Trick, Out of this World, Trick that Can’t be Explained, Anniversary Waltz, and Card at any Number.

Almost all of the effects are performed for two sweet girls who look like they are enjoying themselves, and are reacting well to the magic. Everything is explained clearly, and nothing is unclear or muddy at any point. All the magicians on the disc are having a great time, and have a sincere love for this material that obviously shows. The DVD menu and graphics are simple, yet never seem cheap.

This might be my favorite DVD in a while, and I can see other magicians feeling the same way as well. Not only am I giving this the highest rating possible, but I’m going to give this the highest compliment I can give as a working magician: I WILL be using several of these effects!

I think you will be using some of these effects as well!
