Infinity Blocks are beautifully designed blocks based on The Charpentier Illusion, also known as The Size/Weight Illusion…but Infinity Blocks have a twist!

Infinity Blocks are designed differently than the classic Charpentier Illusion and the blocks WILL ACTUALLY feel heavier in one hand than they do the other! This is not possible with the traditional method and will work even when you know the secret!

The basic plot is that a spectator lifts three blocks while stacked on top of each other, remembering how the weight feels. Then they pick up only the top two blocks and find that impossibly those two blocks seem to weigh more than three blocks did! Then, when they pick up only one block, they find that it miraculously weighs more than two did!

Next, it is shown that with just a simple gesture, all three blocks are made to feel incredibly light! These effects are only temporary and the weight suddenly returns!

Finally, it is shown that the blocks inexplicably feel heavier in the participant’s dominant hand than they felt in their non-dominant hand! Note that this is not suggestion and the blocks actually do feel heavier in one hand than they do in the other!

Infinity Blocks are 3D printed with carbon fiber composite with golden accents. The blocks measure three and one-eighth inches long by one and three-eighths inches wide by a half-inch tall.

Overview

Magicians tend to be clever people. They seem to find magic in the most unusual ways and there aren't many items in the world that a magic trick hasn't been made from. I think one of the more difficult things to create is a solid magic presentation out of an optical, auditory or tactile illusion. We have seen presentations of the Jastrow illusion (Bafflin' Boomerangs) come a long way, as well as auditory illusions (rattle box). Infinity Blocks by Mental Voyage is a tactile illusion that not only confounds the participant but makes them wonder if the performer actually hypnotized them. Based on the Charpentier illusion (also know as the size-weight illusion) Mental Voyages version of this little known effect is probably the most expansive of the few versions that are on the market.

Effect

A participant is shown three blocks that look exactly alike They are asked to pick them all up with both hands straddling the blocks. Then they are asked to pick up with their non-dominant hand all three, then only the top two and then only one. Incredibly the blocks get heavier each time one is eliminated. For the second phase, the performer temporarily hypnotizes them and every block seems light as a feather. For the final and third phase, they are then asked to pick up with their dominant hand the three in total and the leave behind a block each time. To their surprise, their dominant hand now seems weaker than their non-dominant hand.

Method

The method involves well designed blocks coupled with a clever twist on how the blocks are made. Unlike other versions on the market, Paul Carnazzo designed the blocks for a three phase routine unlike the single phase routine that others on the market are limited to. In addition the smaller size of these makes them very pocket-able and portable unlike prior versions which a usually left laying around the house and presented as a more of a curiosity.

Product Quality

The blocks are 3D printed and have a nice Celtic design imprinted on them. The 3D printing is of good quality with no burrs, misprinted areas and have a nice finish to them. The blocks are a two-tone finish of black and gold. The instructional video is well filmed and covers everything you should know. There is a full performance as well as a step by step explanation of the sequence and handling. The video runs a little over 15 minutes.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate and delivers exactly as described. I find the products produced by Mental Voyage not only delivers as stated but exceeds my expectations.
