Breese Double Reel

I managed to persuade the guy who used to make these reels for Harry Stanley to produce one more run for me. And as he is such a lazy guy by the time all these have sold out he probably won't want to make any more ever again. All the fuss and bother and how long they took and how many cups of tea he had to have whilst he was making them! Oh Dear! The world is in recession and we should be glad to have an order however big or small... you tell him!

Anyway all joking aside - these are the best double reels ever made and you will not be able to find them anywhere else. You know what you can do with a double reel? Hmm. Well you can take a pack of cards and spread it out left to right between your outstretched hands and move your hands further and further apart and the cards just seem to rest in space.

You can take a ball in one hand and it glides through space from left to right or right to left as if floating in the air. Don't tell me you are going to need a set of instructions as well!

The two effects for which this reel is designed would take quite a great deal of practice to effectively execute. Keeping the cards or ball reliably suspended on the very heavy (visible) thread is an enormous challenge. It's hard for me to imagine performing this as a close up effect. The reel is noisy on thread retraction, like one of those clip-on retracting keyrings. Given its somewhat limited application and the practice and effort it would take to make these effects actually WORK, the price is hardly justified. Knowing what I know now (learned the hard way), I would pass this up.
