DICE PREDICTION BLUE

Mickael Chatelain

Gi'Mick Magic

(Based on 2 reviews)
Effect:

Take an all white card case out front your pocket, and front this caesar, take out 6 cards.

Place one of these 6 cards face down on the case and explain to your spectators this card is your prediction.

Now, tum the others 5 cards, it is the 5 ESP Symbols: circle, cross, waves, square and star.

Pick up the cards and shuffle them face down front of your spectators before laying them, always face down, in a row on the table!

No one, and it is true, now knows the order of the 5 cards on the table!

Sum up it nicely:
  • 1 prediction card face down on the card case.
  • 5 ESP cards, perfectly shuffled face down in a row on the table!
In the next few seconds, your spectator will choose freely on of these 5 ESP cards.

When you will snap your fingers, your spectator will choose freely a number... The 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 or 5! Really freely choice!

Warning... Snap your fingers!

Your spectator chooses 3 (for example)

Ask him if he wants to change or keep the number 3! Your spectator can really change his number as many times as he wants, there is no force or influence. He doesn't change, his choice is validated!

Ask him to put his fingers on the third card on the table! Without any gesture or manipulation, take the prediction card with your fingertips... Flip the prediction card and the spectator's card at the same time:

It is just IMPOSSIBLE!

Your prediction is 100% identical to your spectator's card... same ESP symbols have been choose!

Overview

The product is called "M-Prediction" this is an ESP prediction trick that although it is well made, I won't be performing it myself. It just doesn't float my boat. Its $49.95 which I think is expensive for an ESP prediction trick.

Effect

5 ESP cards come out of a white box and one prediction card is set aside. the spectator chooses a card my naming a number 1-5 and the Magician shows that the prediction card matches.

Method

There are special gimmicks made to make this happen. It requires a special box and special cards and a few things to make everything match. Sounds like alot, but its pretty easy to learn and perform.

Product Quality

The quality of the product is good with one complaint... that when you use one of the gimmicks, sometimes things don't line up and you can raise an eyebrow. Also, the cards cannot be handed out in many instances.

You cannot really repeat in front of the same audience, but it is a good trick for table hopping so long as people are not grabby at the cards. You need to know and control your audience.

The creator insists on making his own videos. His English is not good enough to explain the tricks. It is painful to watch and listen to him and his explanation is poor. I found the 40 minute video tough to watch and had to take 3 breaks to get through it. I also think he left out some detail that is necessary because his vocabulary is not good. My French is not as good as his English, but if I were him, I would hire an English speaking magician.

Ad Copy Integrity

I find the ad copy to be a bit unintelligible and also misleading. As to the incomprehensible aspect, I don't know what the heck "Take an all white card case out front your pocket, and front this caesar, take out 6 cards" means. Especially the ceasar part. Alright, whatever, the creator's English is not up to snuff (another problem related to quality) and he markets his own stuff. What I really don't like is that he claims "ask him if he wants to change or keep the number 3! Your spectator can really change his number as many times as he wants, there is no force or influence. He doesn't change, his choice is validated!" That's not really 100% true because it makes it seem that they pick a card and then change. That cannot always happen. The spectator can pick a number and change it but not a card - maybe a subtle difference, but I think it is at the very least potentially misleading.

Here is the ad copy.

Overview

If you have seen a lot of magic like I have, you know if Mickael Chatelain produces a trick it has to be heavily gimmicked and M-Prediction is no different. M-Prediction is an ESP symbol prediction effect which cannot go wrong. If you would like a sure fire prediction effect and you don’t mind shelling out a ton of money for it, then take a look at M-Prediction.

Effect

The performer takes out a white box and removes 6 cards from it. One it placed aside as a prediction and the remaining five are shown to be the 5 standard ESP symbols which are the circle, plus sign, wavy lines, square and star. They laid out face up for display and then collected, shuffled and laid out face down. The participant is the asked to think of a number from 1 to 5 and tell the performer. For argument sake, the participant thinks of the number four. The performer counts the cards from left to right, stops on the fourth card and turns it over. The turned over card is the circle. The prediction card is removed from on top of the cards case and is turned over. The two cards match.

Method

The method requires the use of a couple of gimmicked cards, a gimmicked cards case and a magician’s force. There is no sleight of hand needed and the only moves required is to lay out a few cards, collect them and do an overhand shuffle. The trick itself is pretty much self-working.

Product Quality

Unlike many of Chatelain’s releases this one requires no DIY, which is a relief. The cards, case and gimmicks are well made. The video instructions are 40 minutes long and covers the setup and two versions of the routine. There are no major issues with the props save for one. There is a marking system for you to identify three of the cards and the markings are not defined. A couple of seconds with a white gel pen fixed the issue but count on having to do that as well.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy describes the trick as it really appears. The prediction is clean and the spectator does have a fair choice of cards to pick.

Final Thoughts

The trick itself is well made but not impressive enough (for me) to be costing $50. For that amount of money, you can probably find other effects which will be more entertaining. It would have been nice to have included a second set of five cards and have more one can do with this purchase than one trick.
