Levitation effects are one of the most powerful things you can ever perform.
What if there was a practical way to levitate a signed card?

*No Threads
*No Magnets
*Perform anytime and anywhere

That's exactly what this is! Welcome, to Apollo Ascending.

From our friend, Apollo Riego from New York, we bring you a levitating card effect that can be easily adapted to any segment of your routine.

During the levitation, you can even see directly underneath the floating card. You then immediately hand the card out for the spectator to keep.

It's a practical card levitation you'll definitely want.

PROS

This is a very visual rising card routine. It uses no threads or magnets. The rising action is all one in a single hand. Your other hand is free to do whatever you desire... I don't know what you might be doing with your other hand, that is your business. OK, ... you get the point.

There is a gimmick that is permanently attached to a card, so you would need to cop the card to hand out the deck for examination. Any card can be made to rise, and that card can be immediately handed out for examination.

The method is clever. This is one of those effects that when I saw the method, I didn’t realize that the method used would cause the card to rise as it does. Very cool.

The effect is easy to do. The instruction was thorough.

There is a bit of video of the creator showing his handling and performance tips. His handling is very smooth and it was nice to see him demonstrate the use of the gimmick. There are two versions of the gimmick and he gives tips on where to use one vs the other.

The effect is true to the ad copy and it looks the same in real performance as it does on the DVD.

CONS

Angles are not a significant issue, but the effect cannot be done completely surrounded. I would say that spectators can be to your sides and front, as long as they are slightly forward of you.

As for the gimmick, it is good, but I think it could have been designed to better camouflage into the deck. Your audience will not likely see it if you perform it well, but it could be performed more freely if the design was just a bit different.

The gimmick attaches relatively permanently to a single card. So, you must select a single card to use for the gimmick, or you could use an extra indifferent card. This could be an important issue if you perform any effects that involve any thought of card.

VERDICT

I like the effect, it looks good. I like the method, and the gimmick is not bad. I wonder if the gimmick couldn’t be made to better camouflage into a deck of cards. Something tells me that there might be a new and improved version of this gimmick in the future.
