Overview
Imprisoned by Jay Sankey is a perform just about anywhere type of trick that is extremely visual, easily understood and can be appreciated by anyone over six years old. True to form, Sankey takes a concept, reduces it to its simplest form and with the most innocuous of methods turns that concept into a magical experience. If you want to carry virtually nothing and perform mind numbing magic, check out Imprisoned.Effect
The performer borrows a quarter, and if desired has it signed. He takes that signed quarter and seemingly forces it into a narrow straw and pulls the coin down through straw only to have it exit the bottom. The coin is obviously many times the size of the straw and yet impossibly the coin passes through the examinable straw. By the way, the coin is borrowed and can be examined as well.Method
This illusion is created by the use of a simple gimmick and nominal sleight of hand. The gimmick is designed to aid you in making the coin appear to be passing down the inside of the straw. Very little sleight of hand in involved and it is an excellent beginner’s magic trick although seasoned performers can get a ton of mileage out of this as well.Product Quality
The gimmick is incredibly simple and you might be disappointed in its simplicity. Keep in mind this gimmick can never fail or break, so longevity is a factor in buying and performing magic. Sankey states the gimmick was designed and made specifically for this effect. The DVD covers the basics of the performance and the handling of the straw, coin and gimmick. He pays particular attention in explanation on how to “sell” the magical experience. Although many may say that Sankey fill up the time with superfluous talk, the fact that a lot of theory is espoused in each and every one of his releases is a good thing. Unless you purchase and read many books on magic theory, how else will you understand the audiences’ perspective?Ad Copy Integrity
As all of Sankey’s releases, the ad copy is written from the perspective of the spectators. Performed properly, the presentation will look exactly as described in the ad copy.
