I have used the bowling ball production in several shows. It always gets a good audience reaction, especially when the ball is actually rolled out to the audience so they can see that it is not a rubber inflatable product.
This effect requires a bit of distance from the audience so they can appreciate the effect and so the performer can comfortably present it. I use it when I have a stage performance but it can also be done in a normal room if there is a 'performance area.'
I use it together with an appearing table (not included). Walking towards the audience, I am seen to have a narrow brief case in one hand and something else in the other. Stopping, I snap the table into shape with one hand, and then put the brief case on the table with the othe rhand. All of that happens openly and seems very straighforward.
I then open the brief case back toward the audience and produce a full sized bowling pin (rubber - not included), and I produce a full-sized regular bowling ball that I got free at a bowling alley. When I drop the ball on the floor and it makes a weighty sound the applause is loud and instantaneous.
This bowling ball production is easy to perform. There are no body loads. Of course, angles are important but the in the right venue the performer can easily control that aspect. The move to the table is easy because the audience doesn't expect what will come next. I talk about my hobby - which is in the brief case. I give a hint - a pen. People guess writer. I produce the bowling pin. I would have brought the bowling ball but it wouldn't fit... but wait, I'm a magician.
Simply patter, astounding effect. Easy to do. The brief case is well made. The instructions are simple but the effect is also simple, so the instructions are adequate.
If this fits your style and your presentation venue is approopriate for this effect, it makes a very surprising production.
