A spectator's chosen card is lost in the deck. Instead of finding the card (any magician could do that), the pips on another card are moved to create an image of the selection!

This amazing souvenir card may be fully examined-the pips don't move!

Overview

Pip Art is a chosen card revelation that utilizes a gimmicked card as a reveal. Do not let the simplicity of this trick fool you, I personally know a professional magician that has closed his set with this trick. Pip Art is a trick that can grow as you grow. Even though there are handlings that utilize the most basic card handling skill, there are more advanced versions that will further help with the deception.

Effect

A spectator chooses a card and the magician finds the card but it is incorrect. He corrects the mistake using "magic" and the incorrect card transforms to the chosen card. However, the final card is not the actual card that was initially chosen but the incorrect card with its pips rearranged to reveal the original chosen card.

Method

There is an initial setup of three cards for the effect to work. As far as handling goes, it can range from the most basic to complex but no matter how skilled the performer is the trick will still please audiences and garner oohs and ahhhs.

Product Quality

You are provided with two gimmicks (the card reveal) on Bicycle card stock, so there is no question as to the quality of the cards themselves. One is to be used as your revelation, the other is a spare. The instructions are 10 printed pages with the basic effect. Several handling are provided for the novice to advanced card handler. Every presentation whether basic or advanced is thoroughly explained with pictures included.

Ad Copy Integrity

Remember, ad copy is written most often in the perspective of the spectators. Just to clarify a statement that "the pips move to rearrange themselves into the chosen card." This is not in real time; the pips do not physically move as they are looking at the card. When the card is revealed the pips have already been rearranged into the revelation.

Overview

You have a card selected by your spectator and then returned the deck. You remove a card from the deck but you guessed wrong. It was supposed to be 7 of Hearts but you show them the 10 of Diamonds. When they say it was not their card, you pretend to be doing something to the card and when you turn it around, the diamond pips have been transformed into a 7 of hearts shape which was their choice. Pip Art is easy to perform and great for the beginner up to the more advanced performer.

Effect

A spectator's chosen card is shuffled and lost in the deck. Instead of finding their chosen card, the pips on another card are moved to create an image of the selection! This amazing souvenir card may be fully examined - the pips don't move! Comes complete with the necessary specially printed Bicycle card and detailed, fully-illustrated 12 page booklet with 10 pages of instructions.

Method

You will receive a very well made/printed gimmick that you will add to your supplied red Bicycle deck and be taught four different versions of this effect. 1. A basic routine and handling, 2. An impromptu version, 3. A moderate skill handling and finally, 4. An expert handling. The first an second versions require 2 very basic moves/sleights which a beginner and intermediate magician will certainly already know. Moderate and expert handling will be more for the accomplished performer but nothing crazy, most of these moves you will have already incorporated at some time or another. All in all, the basic routine is great and really all you will need. Great for strolling, table hopping and small parlor shows with no angle issues. It has instant reset for a different audience.

Product Quality

You are provided with a very well made bicycle gimmick and should last a very long time as it will not be abused during each performance. The artwork printed on the card is very nice and attractive.

Ad Copy Integrity

What you read is what you get and will be able to perform, it is very accurate. As mentioned above, you will have to supply your own deck.

Final Thoughts

This is a very nice effect with a surprising reveal. Free free to use one of the 4 routines taught or come up with something of your own, it is a very versatile effect. Please know that this effect is not repeatable with another value of card. This is a nice visual reveal and highly recommended as a great buy.

Suggestions

With the Impromptu version, you would actually be able to use your spectators red Bicycle deck as long as it is fairly new and in good shape. This will really blow them away.

I have a bit of an advantage since Dan did this for me a week or two after it was released. I've seen it in the hands of the creator, not some hack behind the magic counter.

This is a strange bit of magic with a surprise ending that can be done by almost anyone. In fact, the booklet explains three different versions: a basic version using the cross-cut force and a double lift, a "moderate skill" version with a few more easy moves, and an "expert handling" for those that can handle a classic force and a top change.

In addition, Dan provides the reader with a number of variations for those that want to experiment a bit more with the card. In many ways, this is a utility prop and the possibilities are only limited by the performer's imagination.
