Overview

You ask a spectator to select any King; a Club, Heart, Spade or Diamond and no matter which one they choose it the only card that is in a closed envelope that is face up and with a different color back. You will never lose.

Effect

This is a great basic trick that any budding magician can do. It is not hard to do and it will certainly amuse your spectators, but I am not sure that this is a worker for pros.

Method

The method is all in the specially printed cards. No sleight of hand necessary. This is a simple trick that is easy to learn. The cards cannot be handed out and that is something that is a negative for this trick.

Product Quality

I would have preferred if the trick were printed on standard poker sized cards, but they are on smaller cards and not on Bike backs. The written instructions are just fine and I have no complaints.

Overview

Learning magic is more than showing tricks. For magic to appear “magical” one must learn to script, speak properly and clearly and present the trick in a professional manner. The building blocks of magic are done incrementally and slowly. My Favorite King is a simple magic trick which someone new to magic can start to develop the skills needed to become more professional.

Effect

You approach a spectator and offer to present an “experiment” in mind reading. In your pocket is an envelope that has the four kings from a deck of cards. You ask the spectator to name one of the kings. As they do you remove an envelope from your pocket. When you pull out the cards their named king is the only one face up and it is the only one with an odd colored back.

Method

The method utilizes gimmicked cards and all one has to do to make this trick work is to remember how to remove the cards from the envelope. Properly done it will appear the spectator predicted the odd king. Of course, the cards cannot be examined.

Product Quality

The cards are bridge sized cards which are not typically used by professional or serious magicians. The cards are of unknown origin so I cannot attest to the longevity of the cards but the appear to be a decent quality and since they primarily reside in an envelope except for the reveal, I can see them lasting a long time. The instructions are printed on a small folded piece of paper and are written in a casual style. The type is clean and crisp and the directions are well written. There is no ambiguity at all.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy, as all magic tricks, are written in the perspective of the observer and is accurate. This is a simple quick trick and there is very little room to embellish on it.
